Port Royal, PA — (March 8, 2015) — Port Royal Speedway continues in its hope to open the 2015 season coming up on Friday and Saturday, March 20 and 21.
Slated for Friday, March 20 from 6 – 9 pm will be a practice session that is open to any division on the 2015 Port Royal slate of events.
And then the 2015 Season Opener will take place one day later on Saturday, March 21 at 6 pm.
The March 21 season lidlifter will feature the 410 sprints, the super late models and the 355 econo-late models.
The 410 sprint winner’s share has just been increased for the opener from $3,500 to $3,600 in honor of late speedway champion Richard “Dick” “Pete” Swarmer.
Swarmer’s son Steve, a former competitor himself, has posted the $100 increase in honor of the elder Swarmer’s opening day victory some 50 years ago, in 1965.
While the 410 sprints will now race for $3,600 to win, the late models will compete for a $2,000 payday.
Adult general admission for the show will be $15 with students ages 12 – 18 admitted for just $7.
Port Royal rounds out March with the same divisions in action for a Camera & Autograph Night on March 28 at 6 pm.
For the price of a general admission ticket on March 28, fans will be permitted to enter the pit area for a set amount of time prior to warm ups.
In other news, the updated Port Royal general rules have now been posted on the speedway website for review.
Season seats and passes remain on sale at the speedway office as well. Office hours are held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with times available on the oval’s website.
