Tulsa, OK — (April 21, 2015) — Lawton Speedway holds the distinction of being the oldest racetrack in Oklahoma that is still producing the roaring sound of horsepower throughout the spring and summer nights. This Saturday, Lawton Speedway will host the AmeriFlex Hose & Accessories / Oil Capital Racing Series winged sprint cars for the first of three AmeriFlex / OCRS events in 2015.
This will be the first season in the 14-year history of the AmeriFlex / OCRS series that track owner Lanny Edwards has requested as many dates for the traveling sprint cars. As AmeriFlex / OCRS series president Barry Grabel explains, “Lanny and I were chatting one day early on the off-season and he made it known that he wanted three dates for Lawton Speedway in 2015,” said Grabel.
“I have known Lanny a very long time and to this day, he is one of the most respected promoters in the nation, much less our region,” said Grabel. “It’s a pleasure and an honor to be requested to perform at Lawton Speedway. When you think of all the World of Outlaw races and NCRA races that have been held there over the years, if there were a place for hall of fame racetracks somewhere, Lawton Speedway would be an automatic inductee. We have had some great racing shows there and I suspect there will be more of the same as our series continues to make great strides and progress within our program.”
A full field of power packed sprint cars are anticipated for the Saturday night show where the winner could be just about anyone as there have been 11 different winners in the past 13 AmeriFlex / OCRS events held dating back to June of 2014. Lawton Speedway has produced 4 different winners in the 5 races held under the AmeriFlex / OCRS umbrella. 2010 was the first year OCRS warriors battled on Lawton’s rustic red soil. The previous Lawton victors have been:
Whit Gastineau (2010)
Kyle Cobb (2011 – twice)
Harli White (2013)
Alex DeCamp (2014)
Will someone else add their name to those who have made trips to Lawton Speedway’s winners circle? To see some of the best sprint car action to be seen anywhere, come to the Lawton Speedway this Saturday night. Two classes of modified stocks and mini stocks will be on the program as well.
