W. Haven, Vt (8/9/15) – The NAPA/Ossipee Auto Parts Sprint Cars of New England 2015 tour stopped at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday for race number 9. Hard work by the Devil’s Bowl crew provided a good, raceable track and mother nature provided a glorious August afternoon.
Patrick Smith in his D&D Racing car jumped out to an early lead in the first qualifier. Patrick was able to stay out front as Dan Douville came through the field using an outside line. Patrick held off Dan for the win.
The second qualifier saw Dennis McLeod start from the front and hold a substantial lead for 5 laps, but the lead evaporated when a yellow came out. On the Delaware-style restart, Jake Williams and Chris Donnelly lined up side-by-side behind Dennis. Once Jake got free of Chris, he chased down Dennis and passed him on the last lap for the qualifier win.
Dan Douville drew the outside pole starting position for the 5-lap, NH Groundscapes Dash for Cash and motored on to the win.
In the A-Main, Dennis McLeod and Patrick Smith jumped to a big lead taking advantage of the smooth track and good visibility. On lap 6 while Dan Douville and Chris Donnelly were cutting through the field, Dan touched Chris and spun himself out. Restarting from the last position, Dan put on an amazing show. Driving very deeply into the corners on the inside as well as working a very fast high lane, Dan passed car after car, including Kevin Chaffee and Chris Donnelly who are 2nd and 3rd in the points, as he marched to the front. With 5 to go, Dan and a perfectly set up 7x race car took over the lead from Kevin Chaffee and began to pull away from the field. The fans saw a most impressive driving exhibition by Mr. Douville!
