The United Rebel Sprint Series Colorado Region invaded Colorado Motor Sports Park to do battle at Colorado’s newest dirt track. Fifteen teams made the trek to Byers to vie for the $600.00 to win – $200.00 to start A Feature. The purse was given an extra $1,000.00 boost by the fine folks at K. W. Schramek Landscape Materials. The fans were treated to a night of great racing at Colorado’s newest 3/8’s mile oval.
Clint Schubert and Mark Besenberg lead the field to the green flag and jumped out to the early lead but before the first lap could be completed Luke Lucero fell victim to a stuck throttle and jumped Schubert’s right rear causing the pair to spin at the front of the field. Luckily everyone avoided the pair and amazingly no one got upside down in the scramble to avoid them.
On the restart, Coby Pearce jumped to the lead and began a run for the ages. Lap seven saw Scott Cochran move past Clint Schubert after battling for several laps. 2013-2014 URSS National Champion Jake Bubak started his run up through the field from his eighth starting spot looking to chase down Pearce who was leading. Back in the pack 14th starter Zach Blurton was weaving his way through traffic and made his way up to the sixth spot by lap fifteen.
Soon Johan Jacob, Mark Walinder and Blurton would swap spots back and forth for several laps as they were battling two and three wide through the corners. Blurton would eventually make his way to the fourth spot followed by Walinder and Jacob. Pearce continued to pace the field as by lap 20 he had lapped every car up to the fourth spot.
Lap 23 saw Pearce’s domination come to an end when his rear end let loose bringing oout the yellow and handing the lead to Cochrun. On the restart Cochrun night would come to an end as his left front tire came off coming for the green handing lead to Bubak
Bubak took the lead on the final restart with Bob Schaffer, Clint Shubert, Zach Blurton and Mark Walinder looking to pick up a spot or two in the remaining three laps. But it was not to be as Jake Bubak picked up his third win of the 2015 URSS Season.
The Keizer Aluminum Wheels hard charger winner was Zach Blurton moving up from 14th to finish in the 4th position.
Heat race winners were John Jacob, Jake Bubak and Mark Walinder.
The Cash Dash Winner was Mark Walinder
