Syracuse, NY — (September 2, 2015) — The Labor Day Weekend usually brings down the summer season for motorsports in the Northeast and for the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) it means three big events in Central, NY. With the rain out a few weeks ago, the Brewerton Speedway joined the originally schedule events at Thunder Mountain and Utica-Rome making for the triple header.
The D-Shaped Dirt Demon always produces exciting sprint car events such as the first back on July 1 that kicked off our CNY Speedweek. Chuck Hebing passed Danny Varin on the very last lap to pick up the popular win.
ESS US Tour Sponsor NAPA Auto Parts helps in bringing the action on this night with Schneider Packaging backing the Cobra Coaches Dash which was originally scheduled on August 14th. Lucas Oil, NAPA Auto Parts and SUNY Canton Series Points will be offered.
After Brewerton it’s down I81 to the Brett Deyo promoted Thunder Mountain Speedway for the second annual Sprint Car Saturday Night. After a very successful debut in 2014 that also produced a last lap victory by Stewart Friesen over Steve Poirier, it was indeed back on the schedule.
The $2,000 to win show will play host to a standing room only crowd once again. Fuddy Duddy’s brings you the Cobra Coaches Dash on this night. CRSA sprint cars, Lightning and Micro Sprints also join the card.
On Sunday night it’s billed as the Cole Cup Tune Up with another $2,000 to win event at the Utica-Rome Speedway. Many teams converge on the ½ mile on hopes of getting notes for the $10,000 to win event just six days later. It will also mark the final SUNY Canton Series event on the calendar as well.
Hebing and Friesen have taken the checkered flag so far at the Bill and Kim Shea promoted facility and will be back looking to make it a repeat.
Steve Poirier is leading Jason Barney by a mere 60 markers going into the big weekend for the overall Lucas Oil Championship and the margin is not much bigger for the NAPA Auto Parts US points also. All three events will count towards those championships. .Poirier has a bigger lead but has not clinched the SUNY Canton Series as of yet.
Of course those two top runners will be at all three events along with many other stars such as Hebing, Matt Tanner, Paul Kinney, Tommy Wickham, Shawn Donath, Jeff Cook, Paulie Colagiovanni, Dave Axton, Parker Evans, Mike Stelter, Tim Axton, Curt Michael, Dylan Swiernik, Denny Peebles, Chad Miller, Pete Richardson and others.
Also expected to be in the field in some if not all the events will be Friesen, Varin, Mike Mahaney, Robbie Stillwaggon, Larry Wight, Sam Reakes IV, Bryan Howland, Cory Sparks, Davie Franek, Keith Prutzman, Rob Dietrick, Paul Habeck, Joe Trenca, Thomas Radivoy, Jimmy Stitzel, Jordan Thomas, George Suprick, Keith Granholm and a host of others.
Labor Day Weekend is producing a wild triple-header with visits to Brewerton, Thunder Mountain and Utica-Rome…It will be excitement guaranteed!
