McKENZIE – For the third consecutive year, seven-time World of Outlaws champion Donny Schatz scored a New Years Day victory in Australia. After closing 2015 with 37 Sprint car victories behind the wheel of the No. 15 Bad Boy Buggies/Chevrolet Performance J&J, Schatz won on consecutive nights last weekend at Ausdeck Patios Archerfield Speedway in Brisbane, Queensland.
Schatz opened 2016 with a near perfect night at the quarter-mile dirt oval topping the charts in qualifying, winning both heats and the dash event. He took the challenge of starting 14th and raced his way forward and into the lead on lap 24. The Fargo, North Dakota racer led the rest of the way to pick up his 13th consecutive victory at Archerfield.
On Saturday, Schatz again was on a mission starting the 40-lap main event 11th in the grid. He stormed his way into the top-five six laps into the race and was in command of the field on lap 11. The reigning WoO champion led the rest of way and picked up his third consecutive hard charger award and fourth triumph in four Australian starts.
