TULSA, Okla. (May 24, 2016) – The Caney Valley Speedway always produces some exciting racing when the Ameri-Flex / OCRS winged spirit cars take to the quarter mile oval and that could very well be the case again this Saturday.
Alex DeCamp picked up the win in our last visit to the Caney, Kansas oval on Sept. 5, 2015, but it will be no easy task to repeat when the Ameri-Flex / OCRS sprinters return to the Kansas oval this weekend.
Points leader Zach Chappell won his first feature of the season last week at Longdale Speedway with a  last lap charge around race-long leader Cameron Hagin. The week before at Salina Highbanks Speedway Chappell made a similar late charge that resulted in a second place finish behind Sheldon Barksdale.
Barksdale’s victory at Salina was his second straight and third in five weeks. At Longdale Barksdale saw his streak come to an end with a third place finish after contending with the front runners early in the race.
Coming into this weekends race defending champion Robert Sellers sits second in points just 30 points behind Chappell and looking for his first victory of the season. Season opener winner Whit Gastineau holds down third just ten points behind Sellers. Barksdale is holding down the fourth spot and Cameron Hagin climbed into fifth after his second place finish last weekend at Longdale.
Saturday’s stop is the first of three scheduled at the Kerry Gorby operated facility. The Ameri-Flex / OCRS sprint cars return on July 16 then come back on Sept. 3 for the $5,000-to-win Ameri-Flex Challenge.
