PETERSEN MEDIA- Jonathan Allard spent his weekend participating in the final two legs of WST Speedweek in Oregon and California with Rod Fauver Racing, as well as charging from last to third with the King of the West Series on Sunday night aboard the Jim and Annete Van Lare No. 5v.
“I really can’t thank Rod Fauver and the Van Lare family enough for the opportunities they provided me with over the weekend,” Allard said. “Both cars had success and I really had fun working with both teams.”
Sunday night at the Stockton Dirt Track, Allard made his first start aboard the Van Lare entry. Timing in 11th fastest in time trials, Allard would pick up an important win in his heat race to earn a sport in the all-important dash.
Lining up in the seventh spot, Allard would have a throttle pedal issue when the green flag dropped and would take his machine back to the trailer as he would be credited with an eighth place finish.
When the race came to life, Allard would have issues on the start of the race that would see him slow on the backstretch and bring out the yellow. Restarting from the tail end of the field, Allard would have a long way to go on this night.
Using a strong restart, Allard would creep his way into the Top-10 in just a few short laps, and would make a strong push for the Top-Five just before the caution flew on the 10th lap. Restarting in the sixth spot, Allard would hook up in a battle with Tyler Walker as the duo would get by Justyn Cox as they battled for the fourth spot.
Getting by Walker for good late in the race, Allard would then set his sights on Jason Statler for the final spot on the podium. Doing everything he could to get through traffic, Allard would get around Statler in turns three and four to get the spot at the stripe.
Allard would also be in action on Friday night with the Rod Fauver 64 at the Siskiyou Motor Speedway in Yreka, CA. Timing in ninth fastest, Allard would pick up the win in a very loaded heat race and earn a berth in the Dash.
On a very hooked up surface, Allard would finish fourth in the Dash, placing him in the second row of the feature event. On a track that was extremely difficult to pass on, Allard would gain one position during the 30-lapper and land on the podium.
Saturday night saw the Allard and Fauver combination travel to the Southern Oregon Speedway in White City, OR. Timing in eighth fastest, JA would finish in the fourth spot of his heat race and miss out on a trip to the Dash.
Lining up in the fourth row of the feature event, the Chico, CA driver would slowly work his way forward on a track that was tricky at times. Cracking the Top-Five, Allard would close his trip to the Northwest with a fifth place finish.
“Its going to be an interesting Summer it looks like, and I just have to thank the good people that are working with me to get races in,” Allard said. “Again, I have to thank both Rod Fauver and the Van Lare family for the chance to race last weekend.”
Allard would like to thank Walker Performance Filtration, ButlerBuilt, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Red Line Oil, KSE Racing Products, NGK Spark Plugs, FK Rod Ends, Hunt Magnetos, Longacre Products, RCM Design, Ti64, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, AL Driveline, and Hoosier Tire for their support.
2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-34, Wins-6, Top 5’s-22, Top 10’s-24.
