Aptos, CA-  Just three races separate Andy Forsberg or Mason Moore from being crowned the 2016 Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster Champion, and after taking part in the Gold Cup Race of Champions last Wednesday night, the series heads back to the north state this Saturday to take part in the second and final event at the Marysville Raceway.

 

With the championship battle still in single digits with the season coming to a close, both Forsberg and Moore will be gunning to earn the maximum points and earn some breathing room as the championship battle as come down to a two horse race.

 

In 2016, Forsberg’s lone series win came at the Marysville Raceway during the Mel Hall Memorial back in May, and should be complete the season sweep it would give him the breathing room he is looking for.

 

While Moore comes into the event looking for his first win of the season, he too would be considered a threat at the Marysville Raceway as he ran up front back in May and captured a fourth place finish.

 

During the series’ most recent event, it was Mitchell Faccinto taking it to a stout field of 52 Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster cars. Faccinto clean swept the night and established a new all time 360ci track record in doing so at the Silver Dollar Speedway.

 

As the season comes to a close, another stout field is expected to be on hand aside from the two championship contenders. Other drivers that are likely be at the Marysville Raceway Park on Saturday night include freshly minted Marysville Raceway track champion, Cody Lamar, Michael Ing, Koen and Kyler Shaw, Justin Sanders, Sean Becker, Shane Golobic, DJ Netto, Chase Majdic, Justyn Cox and many more.

 

Saturday night at the Marysville Raceway, the front gates are scheduled to open at 5pm with cars expected to be on the track for hot laps by 530pm. Tickets can be purchased at the front gate with adult tickets going for $18, juniors and seniors for $13, children for $6, and kids 5 and under are free.

ON TAP: The Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster will take a couple of weeks off before taking to the Silver Dollar Speedway on Wednesday September 7th as the curtain raises on the 63rd Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions.
