FERNLEY, Nv. (July 25, 2017) – With the season slowly winding down the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Abreu Vineyards is set for its only visit to the state of Nevada this Saturday July 29, as teams and fans head for the Fernley 95A Speedway.

The facility is located just 35-miles from Reno and is geared up to host its first ever traveling Winged 360 Sprint Car Series event on Saturday. The King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series has competed at the track multiple times over the years, but none since 2013, leaving local fans hungry for a big Winged Sprint Car showcase.

All teams competing receive three free pit passes and the B-main starting money has also been boosted to $200 for non-transfers. With the event being in Nevada there will also be no muffler rule during the night.

The evening of racing also begins the start of four to go in the fight for the $10,000-to-win title and the right to be known as the inaugural tour champion. The top-15 drivers and owners will take part in the $60,000 overall point fund. The solid paydown awards a minimum of $1,000 all the way to 15th place.

“We look forward to competing at the Fernley 95A Speedway this Saturday,” said Russell Motorsports Inc. President Scott Russell. “We certainly encourage everyone to make a weekend out of it by heading up to spend the night in Reno on Friday and then make the short drive to Fernley on Saturday. With only four Sprint Car Challenge Tour races remaining this season it’s a critical event for all the teams up there in the points. It should be a good wild card show since a lot of teams have never been there.”

Paradise, CA’s Kyle Hirst goes into Saturday holding a 45-point lead over his brother-in-law Willie Croft at the top of the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Abreu Vineyards standings. Hirst in fact, is a former winner at the Fernley 95A Speedway, having picked up a victory in the 2013 Cherry Bomb Classic with the King of the West Series. The 29-year-old is still searching for his first SCCT win of the season, but has been a mark of consistency thus far with podiums in all but two races.

Croft also had success at the Fernley 95A Speedway in 2013 and will hope to chip away at the point lead on Saturday. The Roseville racer has one victory to his credit this year, while Hanford’s Mitchell Faccinto is the only repeat winner so far and goes into Saturday sitting 17-points behind Croft for the second spot. Hollister’s Ryan Bernal is the most recent winner in Sprint Car Challenge Tour competition and ranks fourth in the standings, while Princeton’s Mason Moore rounds out the top-five.

More drivers expected on Saturday will include Kingsburg’s Cory Eliason, Visalia’s Steven Tiner, Placerville’s Andy Gregg, Penngrove’s Buddy Kofoid, Hanford’s DJ Netto, Roseville’s Colby Copeland, Hollister’s Tony Gualda, Rio Linda’s Cody Lamar and Scott Hall, Fremont’s Shane and Dustin Golobic, Clarksburg’s Justyn Cox, Fairfield’s Zack Lynksey, Australian’s Daniel and Michael Keen, Tulare’s Travis Coehlo, St. Helena’s Britton Bock, Tracy’s Kyle Offill, Citrus Height’s DJ Freitas, Reno’s Mark Tabor Jr. and more.

The front gate of the Fernley 95A Speedway will open at 2pm this Saturday July 29. Adult tickets cost $15 in lower bleachers and $20 in the upper bleacher area, while sky box seating is $30. Cars are expected to hit the track around 5pm for wheel packing, with hot laps, qualifying and heats to follow.
