KNOXVILLE, IA (August 9, 2025) – Ryan Timms left no doubt Saturday night at Knoxville Raceway that he was the dominant force in route to winning the finale of the 64th NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals Presented by Casey’s. At the age of 18 years old, Timms took the lead on the opening lap and was never seriously challenged in route to winning the $195,000 top prize.

Timms, from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, became the first driver to win the Knoxville Nationals during his first start in the Saturday night A-Main since Kenny Weld in 1964

Ryan Timms and Carson Macedo started on the front row for the 50-Lap Knoxville Nationals finale. Timms took the lead at the start and immediately pulled away for the lead. Behind Timms Macedo and Corey Day attempted to keep pace while Brad Sweet moved into fourth position in lap two.

Timms caught the back of the field six laps into the main event. Behind him Sweet and Day continued their race for the third position with Day holding onto the position. Sweet then dropped back and was overtaken by Logan Schuchart for fourth on lap 10 on the front stretch.

Schuchart continued to move forward by Day for third in turn one. Schuchart then tried to pull along side Macedo for second, but moved up the racetrack and allowed Day to take the third position back on lap 15.

Macedo, Day, and Schuchart continued to race for second while Timms held 3.384 seconds. On lap 22 the trio came off turn four three wide, nearly making contact, with Day holding the spot.

Even with the large lead Timms still had challenges. With 26 laps in Timms and Spencer Bayston made contact while Timms was lapping him. Somehow both drivers continued to the halfway break.

Timms continued to lead Macedo and Day as Schuchart jumped the cushion, lost several positions, and was never in contention the remainder of the race.

On lap 28 Rico Abreu made his presence felt challenging Day for third but could not make the pass. Day and Abru continued to race for the position until Abreu was able to squeeze by on lap 30.

By lap 33 Timms had already opened up a 3.389 second lead when the caution came out for Buddy Kofoid spinning in turn four. Bayston hit Kofoid right rear that caused further damage to both cars that forced them to retire from the event.

The caution flag erased what was a 3.818 second lead for Timms, but he was undaunted driving away from the field while Abreu challenged Macedo for second, but could not make the pass while Day and Sweet exchanged the fourth position.

Up front Timms continued to stretch his lead to 3.080 seconds while encountering slower traffic with six laps to go. Two laps later the caution appeared with four laps to go with Kyle Larson blowing a right rear tire. Under the same caution, Brad Sweet pulled pit side with engine issues that forced him out of the race.

Timms pulled away again during the restart while Gravel moved forward past Day to secure the fourth spot before racing three wide with Abreu and Macedo for second with Abreu coming out with the position.

Once Abreu moved up to second place he could not catch Timms, who held a 2.828 second advantage at the finish. Abreu finished second while Gravel was able to shuffle Macedo back to fourth on the final lap. Schuchart fought back from getting shuffled back after the halfway break to round out the top five.
