Sam Hafertepe Jr. – Beware the Cone!

Things were going great for Sam Hafertepe Jr. in Thursday’s preliminary action at the Chili Bowl at the Tulsa Expo Center. After coming out of the heats and Qualifiers as the high-point driver, he led early in that night’s feature. Unfortunately, he would hit the cone on a restart and be relegated to the back. Still, the Sunnyvale, Texas driver was fast all week and is already looking forward to the 2018 edition of the Chili Bowl.

All Stars Headline 2017 Schedule at Wayne County Speedway

Although it is only the middle of January, Jason and Kristin Flory have put together the tentative schedule for NAPA Wayne County Speedway for the 2017 racing season. Orrville’s Historic Oval will open up on Saturday, April 22 with the first of four visits by Tony Stewart’s Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions Sprints.

Bateman Passes Away at Age 63

Randy Bateman, a long-time competitor as a driver and team owner in USAC’s Silver Crown and National Sprint Car series, passed away Sunday night, Jan. 15, 2017, after a courageous fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Bateman was 63.
