McKennedy Wins at Star Speedway

The only thing that could have kept Chelmsford’s Jon McKennedy from winning the Star Classic Saturday night was the possible rain looming in the distance. But the weather held off and Jon, who had diced back and forth with Rob Summers for the lead for much of the 150 lapper until Summers’ demise on lap 105, took off to lap most of the remaining field by race end. His win of the 48th running of the prestigious Classic was the biggest of his career. McKennedy, after numerous modified achievements, had chosen to run ISMA full time in 2013 and the decision gave him one of the most rewarding wins of his life.

BEN SEITZ CAPS A GREAT DAY WITH ISMA CHAUDIERE WIN SATURDAY

It was a day Ben Seitz, won’t soon forget. Saturday at Autodrome Chaudiere, everything just fell into place for the Bourne, Mass. driver and his crew. Ben’s 17 was consistently fast and by the end of practice he had set a new track record of 10.77, breaking Johnny Benson’s mark set in 2011.

In 2011, the International Supermodified Association headed into Quebec for an inaugural run at Vallee-Jonction’s Autodrome Chaudiere. Founded in 1992 the 1/3 mile high banked paved oval became under the new ownership of Dany Legace and Kevin Roberge and they duo wanted not only to upgrade the facility, but to run the ultra fast winged supers on the track nicknamed “Little Bristol Quebecers”.
