2009 Final World of Outlaws Championship Standings

Donny Schatz came out on top of the closest point race ever in World of Outlaws history with a sixth-place finish on Saturday night in the finale of the third annual World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway to edge Jason Meyers by just 19 points after 65 A-Feature events and 67 total races including two preliminary features. Schatz began the World Finals by setting fast time in both rounds of time trials which were held last Thursday to earn 10 bonus points in the standings to help wrap up his fourth consecutive title.

Jason Meyers did exactly what he needed to do on Friday night in the opening main event of the third annual World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway, as he was victorious to keep pace with Donny Schatz in the closest points race in World of Outlaws history. With the triumph at the state-of-the-art four-tenths-mile, Meyers earned four more points than Schatz who finished second to move to within 25 markers of the three-time and defending series champion with just the finale of the World Finals remaining on Saturday night to determine the 2009 champion.

PERRIS TO HOST NATIONAL SPRINT CAR MUSEUM SILENT AUCTION

The Perris Auto Speedway in Lake Perris, California, will host the non-profit National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum at this weekend’s Budweiser Oval Nationals. Besides hosting the museum foundation’s quarterly board of directors meeting, the dirt track will host a museum-benefit silent auction of unique sprint car racing memorabilia and a display featuring the late Billy Wilkerson’s Don Brown-built, Ernie Duncan-owned 1967 California Racing Association (CRA) championship-winning sprint car. The beautiful black number 2 sprint car and the auction items will be found under the grandstands on all three nights, November 5-6-7.
