O’Reilly Midwest All Stars up the stakes in 2009

2009 was another break out season for the O’Reilly Midwest All Stars. In its third season of racing action the series the competition was fiercer that ever. The exhilarating schedule featured fifteen show stopping races with ten different drivers celebrating at the end of the night in Victory Lane. At the beginning of the season the point standings were up for grabs and the top spot changed several times, but towards the end of the season a familiar face emerged as Jerrod Hull celebrated his third title.

Brandon Wimmer – Making the Show in Charlotte!

Brandon Wimmer accomplished what most drivers couldn’t at the World Finals at the Dirt Track at Lowe’s Motor Speedway last weekend with the World of Outlaws. He made both sprint car main events. The accomplishment was made all the more impressive when you factor in that he was teaming with Miles Hill and his #07x team for the very first time.

Riverside International Speedway’s Hensley Suzuki USCS Fall Nationals presented by Union Auto Parts www.uscsnationals.com this Friday, November 13th and Saturday, November 14th has got it all for people who like to see fast race cars go in circles on a tacky action-packed one quarter mile Gumbo clay oval. There should be enough door-to-door and wheel-to-wheel adrenaline-pumping action for even the most avid race fan with a total of over 400 laps of racing in five divisions. Drivers from at least nine states are expected to compete for the $50,000 in prize money during the two nights.

Schatz, Bruce, and Clauson Win With Benic

Donny Schatz capped off another strong season by becoming only the 2nd driver in history with 4 consecutive World of Outlaws Championships, all on AFCO by BENIC Shocks. Schatz also won his 4th consecutive Knoxville Nationals and had 12 WoO wins, 39 top 5’s and 54 top 10’s during the ’09 campaign. Congratulations to Donny, Ricky, Shane and the entire TSR team on another great season!

November 11, 2009 – Wayne Johnson fell one tick short of winning his second Short Track Nationals, but the $10,000 he received for second isn’t bad either. The Knoxville, Iowa driver had the FattFro #14AJ singing all weekend, and won his preliminary feature as well.

It’s amazing how through Motorsports people can feel a connection to someone they have rarely or never seen in person or ever met personally. In 1987 I made my first trip to Central Pennsylvania for a two day World of Outlaws show at Williams Grove Speedway. With the Outlaw regulars I had seen a handful of the Central Pa. teams before at Eldora, but one car in particular caught my eye. It was a white car with brown trip and gold lettering for “Camel Express” carrying number 26.

VENDORS RESPONDING TO CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR AT THE HALL OF FAME

With a little over two weeks remaining before the National Sprint Car Museum in Knoxville hosts its inaugural Christmas Craft Fair on Friday-Saturday-Sunday, November 27-28-29, vendor booth space applications are being received on a daily basis. To date, many vendors from across central Iowa have signed up to showcase their handmade crafts to the public and demonstrate some of their crafting techniques. The show will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this Thanksgiving weekend.
