Not only will the Winged Outlaw Sprints on Dirt (SOD) Series drivers be racing their Winged Sprints, they will welcome 2001 World of Outlaws Champion, Danny Lasoski as a fellow competitor.
Lasoski, who drove for the Roth’s from 1997 to 2000 and then claimed the National Sprint Tour championship in 2006, received a call last week about hopping into the car for the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series Texas Outlaw Nationals at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.
The team combined to score a victory on Sunday during the finale of the ASCS Midwest Region season-opening doubleheader at I-80 Speedway with Lasoski driving from third place to the lead in the final three laps.
Lasoski charged from fourth place to win his heat race and he led more than three-quarters of the main event before a flat tire relegated him to a 12 th-place result during the 4th annual Air Capital Shootout with the NCRA at 81 Speedway.
“No matter what we did we were three tenths of a second off the pace,” he said. “We couldn’t find the speed. I just couldn’t put my finger on it.”
A missing variable plagued Danny Lasoski during his season-opening week of racing in Florida.
“No matter what we did we were three tenths of a second off the pace,” he said. “We couldn’t find the speed. I just couldn’t put my finger on it.”
Actually, three of them.
Mark Burch Motorsports and driver Danny Lasoski placed second and fourth, respectively, to make it 10 consecutive top-10 finishes.
