BROWN WINS THE BATTLE, HUPPUNEN WINS THE WAR AT OHSWEKEN

Ohsweken, ON — (September 9, 2011) — Track championships were decided on Friday night as the Rochester Knighthawks helped close out the 2011 points paying portion of the schedule at Ohsweken. In the Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Cars it was a three car battle for the title as Jim Huppunen held a 28 point lead over Kyle Patrick and a 30 point lead over Jamie Collard in third. All three drivers were involved in two opening lap crashes. On the initial start Huppunen and Patrick were collected. The point leader evaded major problems however Patrick was done for the night. On the next try at the start Collard crashed hard into the turn one wall. Huppunen held on to capture the championship making he and his brother Tom the first brothers to win the title. Mitch Brown ran a smooth race and won the 25 lap feature over Kyle Moffit for his second career sprint car win.
