Mechanicsburg, PA — (September 16, 2011) — Daryn Pittman won the 13th sprint car race of his Williams Grove Speedway career on Friday night but it was his first ever in a regular handicapped feature event at the track.

In the ARDC Midget feature, Drew Heistand took the lead from his brother Dusty with two laps to go to claim the 20-lap event.

Pittman started sixth in the 25-lap sprint car feature and was already fourth on the second lap of the race behind leader Ryan Bohlke.

The red flag fell on the field with four laps down for a fourth turn flip by Danny Dietrich, who escaped injury.

Pittman had just taken third before the stoppage and went to work on fifth starter Cory Haas for second when action resumed.

It took him five more laps to slip into second and begin running down New Jersey’s Bohlke.

A caution flag regrouped the field one lap shy of the halfway point but Bohlke proved up to the challenge when green replaced the yellow.

In fact, it was only with four to go that Pittman finally got close enough to pull a power move deep in the first corner to take the lead.

However once able to get out front, he began pulling away to the win aboard the Heffner No. 27.

Bohlke was relegated to second followed by Justin Henderson, Haas and Chad Layton.

Sixth through 10th went to Rick Lafferty, Brian Montieth, Greg Hodnett, Doug Esh, and Fred Rahmer.

Lafferty, Jay Reichard and Bohlke took heats.

“It’s a great team win,” Pittman said of taking the regular feature.

“It’s good to finally won one to shut guys like you up,” he quipped over the public address system.

“We haven’t really been that good here all year except for the outlaw show.”

Dusty Heistand started second in the ARDC main and led until his brother took over with a mile to race.

The former leader backslid to fourth at the finish with Tim Buckwalter finishing second and Steve Buckwalter in third. Fifth went to Ryan Smith.

Sixth through 10th went to Nick Wean, Steve Drevicki, Andrew Hannula, Bruce Buckwalter and PJ Gargiulo.

ARDC heats fell to Drew Heistand, Steve Buckwalter and Bruce Buckwalter.
