Jack Perkins, son of the legendary Larry Perkins and veteran of a number of racing categories, will join Chad Neylon, Briony Ingerson and Wade Aunger in the studio as a part of the commentary team for the World Series Sprint cars 2012/13 television program.

Most recently Perkins was behind the wheel of a V8 Supercar as Alexandre Premat’s endurance co-driver with Gary Rogers Motorsport in addition to a number of media appearances and duties with the V8 Ute Series.

Perkins has also been associated with World Series Sprintcars in the past as a fan and an at-track co-commentator during Speedweek.

“I’ve been a long time supporter of WSS and Sprintcar racing worldwide for many years now,” said Perkins. “It’s good, hard, proper racing, and something myself, and my mates including James Moffat and Tim Slade can watch and enjoy during the off-season for V8 Supercars.”

“In the last few years, as my driving commitments in V8 Supercars have tapered to part-time co-driving, I’ve commentated a few different forms of racing and I’m looking forward to commentating the WSS alongside Wade, and I hope I can bring a young, fresh voice to the sport, and hopefully keep the audience entertained, because the racing will be entertaining as always!”

Friend and former colleague Wade Aunger was thrilled at the prospect of working with Perkins again for the 12/13 campaign.

“When the opportunity came up to get Jack on board as my co-commentator for WSS, I knew we had to grab it with both hands,” commented Aunger.

“Not only is he a Sprintcar die-hard, but he’s quite an established TV announcer for a number of motorsport categories these days and a very accomplished steerer in V8 Supercars, both in Australia and Super Tourers in NZ.”

“Jack will bring V8 Supercar credibility and a broad motorsport knowledge to our coverage, plus his passion for Sprintcars will shine through!”

“I’m really excited about working with him and I can’t wait to get started!”

In addition to Perkins, World Series Sprintcars also welcomes the return of Briony Ingerson to WSS TV.

The V8 Supercars personality will be familiar to many WSS fans after her stint with the series late in the 1990s roving the infield at live events.

The 2012/13 World Series Sprintcars Preview Show will air on Wednesday December 12 2012 at 7.30pm (eastern time) on the SPEED Channel through Foxtel/Austar.

The WSS TV Show will then return to Wednesday nights for 12 consecutive weeks starting on January 16 2013 at 7.30pm (Eastern).
