INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — (September 12, 2016) — The USAC Indiana Midget Championship hits the final stretch of its 2016 calendar as the series prepares for this Saturday night’s event at Montpelier (Ind.) Motor Speedway.

Carson Macedo of Lemoore, Calif. leads Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports teammates Tanner Thorson, Ryan Robinson and Spencer Bayston in the latest USAC Indiana Midget Series standings coming into this Saturday’s race.

Macedo’s lead over Thorson is only 23 points as the top six in the standings, including fifth-ranking Justin Peck and sixth-place Holly Shelton, are separated by just 52 points with a Montpelier victory worth 70.

Davey Ray of Davenport, Iowa thwarted the Kunz team’s efforts to win last Saturday night’s 25-lap Indiana Midget Series race at Daugherty Speedway in Boswell, Ind. He passed Thorson on lap 22 and motored away to beat Macedo, Tyler Courtney, Austin Prock and Peck.

Ray piloted the Team RAYPRO Spike RAYPRO Mopar to the win while Thorson needed to replace a tire before finishing 14th. The win was Ray’s first under USAC-sanction wince a 2011 D1 victory at Montpelier.
