From Tim McKinney
Danny Laycock of D.O. & the King fame is one of the sport’s most avid fans; and he has always been an avid promoter. Many of you will probably recall the “racin’ fests” that he put on a couple of decades ago at Bloomington Speedway. Everybody had a great time; and there was a lot of great racing. The autograph session, the hero and hotdog qualifications, the bon-fire, etc. just helped to make the event a better last hurrah for the season.
The Racin’ Fest was to be held on Saturday; but it fell victim to the weatherman as events this time of year are prone to do. Two inches of rain had fallen by 10:00 Friday morning; and more was expected. D.O. had no choice but to postpone the event. The event has been rescheduled for this Saturday, October 31, at Lincoln Park Speedway in beautiful downtown Putnamville.
Hot laps will begin at 1:00 pm on Saturday. There will be a drivers’ meeting at 3:30 pm followed by an autograph session in the infield from 5:00 – 6:00 pm.
Hero and Hot Dog qualifications will be held for sprint cars and modifieds beginning at 6:00 pm followed by heat races for sprints, modifieds, super stocks, and bombers. All of this will be followed by the appropriate hooligans and features.
For most of the participants and spectators, this event will mark the end of the season; and many of them will be ready for a party. There will be a huge bon-fire, music, and the official first winter bench racing session.
