‘JT’ Bounces Back!

From Redline Media

A week in a long time in Speedway! James ‘JT’ Thompson bounced back last Saturday night at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway (TPCR) to quickly bury the memories of the previous weekend to finish in second place on the podium behind winner Robbie Farr.

After having a probable victory taken from his grasp at TPCR the previous weekend, after he had collided with a lapped car who had spun out eight laps away from victory; Thompson showed no ill effects from the horrors of the weekend before and raced to an impressive podium result.

“This was one of the best possible ways to come back after the previous weekend’s disappointments and finish on the podium, I couldn’t be happier, not only for me but the whole team as without them none of this would be possible,” expressed a very pleased Thompson. “Not only has this done the world of good for my confidence as a driver but for the whole teams, as the previous weekend was pretty gut wrenching for everyone.”

In between race meetings during the week Thompson’s # 22 Hills Motorcycles supported Maxim had to undergo a fair amount of attention in readiness for its return to the track.

“There was a fair bit of damage and we spent a lot of the week repairing the car, as a lot of it was mainly superficial damage but there was also a considerable amount of chassis damage too,” he mentioned. “To be honest I couldn’t wait to get back out there for this weekend and the goal was to go out there and come away with strong result. It was very satisfying to be able to come out and achieve exactly what we set out to do.”

The recent form of Thompson, who currently sits equal 9th in the TPCR Track Championship point standings, has been helped along by his new-found extra aggressive.

“It’s all about being aggressive and sometimes the difference between either finishing on the podium or back in 11th is exactly that,” he said. “I took the same approach into the feature race this weekend as I did the last and the results are starting to come my way. At a track like TPCR most of the field has similar equipment and you sometimes need to be more aggressive to give you that edge.”

The fourth round of the TPCR Track Championship is to be held this Saturday night (November 14).
