It was a result that he had taken away from him down in Sydney the previous weekend due to steering failure; however Danny Reidy made his 09/10 season debut at Brisbane International Speedway (BIS) and finished with his first podium finish of the season.
Preparing for the opening round of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship in two weekend’s time at the BIS track; Reidy contested the fourth round of the QLD Speedway Spares Sprintcar Series and recorded a third place finish in the feature race.
“We were a bit too tight early on in the feature race and that cost me a few positions, I also had a major bicycle between turns three and four at half race distance and in the end they hurt my chances of a stronger finish,” commented Reidy. “Finishing on the podium at the end of the night is always a very satisfying result and we were consistently quick all night and that is certainly an encouraging sign.”
Reidy had qualified his NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort – Alice Springs backed J&J on pole position for the feature race by virtue of winning the ‘Top 6’ dash. Reidy had earlier in the night qualified third in time trials and finished his two heat races with a third and a sixth place.
“With the WSS Championship just around the corner it is important to get some good runs on the board and I feel that we have done that,” Reidy enthused. “In our opening three race meetings this season we have been able to take plenty of positives away from them and the focus now is to build consistency for the remainder of the season.”
The opening round of the WSS Championship, where Reidy is one of the 12 contracted drivers, is to be fought out at BIS on Saturday night, November 21.
Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort – Alice Springs, Baines Engines and P & M Motor Body Repairs for all their ongoing support in the 2009/10 season.
