With Round 2 of the Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars Championship scheduled for Charlton Raceway last Saturday night, ABC Auto Gear Racing headed west from their Brisbane base early to showcase the #51 Tyrepower/Action Metal Recyclers Sprintcar at the Tyrepower Toowoomba store.
With driver Peter Thorley on hand, the team unloaded the car outside the store just after opening time and spent the morning meeting fans, signing autographs and handing out both Tyrepower and ABC Auto Gear Racing promotional items prior to reloading the car and heading out to the track for the night’s racing.
Pete was quite pleased with the opportunity to meet some local fans and talk with them at length about his thoughts on the night ahead and Sprintcar racing in general.
“We’re always happy to take the opportunity to put something back into the sport like this, it’s actually quite humbling to meet people from different places and have them let you know they have been fans of ours for some time.” Pete commented.
“We’ve received a lot of support from Tyrepower this season and having the car on show at their store in Toowoomba on Saturday is just one way we can say thank you to them for that, we’re certainly looking forward to the next opportunity we can do this with them” he added.
Both Pete and team mate Todd Wanless competed in Round 2 of the World Series Championship on the weekend, the two making the night’s A-Main Feature event and bringing the cars home in eleventh and thirteenth place respectively. Todd qualified for the eighteen car field directly through Time Trials and his two Heat races while Pete started the Feature in position seventeen after gaining a starting spot by transferring through the B-Main.
The next event on the team’s schedule is Round 5 of the Qld Speedway Spares Series at Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway (BIS) on December 12, followed by the first of the annual International Sprintcar events at BIS on Boxing night.
