SYRACUSE, NY – This weekend the Lucas Oil Super Sprints embark on one of the most important weekends on the 2010 racing season. Its north to Quebec with a Friday night visit to Autodrome Granby followed by a two feature night at Autodrome Drummond capped off with the first ever visit to Le RPM Speedway on Sunday evening.
While the four events are vital towards the over all Lucas Oil title, the weekend will also crown the Northwood 2 Construction/LaSalle Motorsports Canadian Sprint Car Series champion as well as the Fondations 4 Saisons Quebec 5 Star Series titlist. Not to mention the largest overall payoffs on the 2010 tour will be held at all three facilities making for a very lucrative weekend.
Defending series champion Justin Barger has a very slim lead over Quebec’s own Steve Poirier and Lance Yonge for the overall ESS championship. Poirier leads Chuck Hebing and Yonge in the Canadian Sprint Series with Jessica Zemken on top of Yonge and Hebing in the Five Star Series. With Zemken out west this week, she will hand over the point lead after the weekend.
The half-mile in Granby will once again kick off the Quebec swing with the second and final event of 2010. On Saturday Drummond will start the night with the rained out event from June 5th and then hold another complete show from the winged warriors.
On Sunday, history will be made. Promoter Jasmin Peloquin has brought the quarter-mile Le RPM Speedway to new heights with the season highlight the visit by “America’s Race Cars”. On tap will be a full program of ESS racing along with a special Canada vs. USA dash brought to you by Coffrage Daniel Lampron.
It will be a battle of two countries over the three nights with Barger, Yonge, Dan Kaszubinski, Hebing, Jeff Cook, Kevin Ward Jr., Tommy Wickham, Mike Stelter, Zach Weigand, Anthony Cain, Jason Barney and James Hanson representing the US.
Canada will be lead by the likes of Poirier, Alain Bergeron, Brian McDonald, Michael Parent, Chris Jones, Devin Caron, Tyler Rand, Lee Ladouceur, Paul Pekkonen, Dale Gosselin, Donald Lemire, Daniel Lampron, Michael Forcier, Sylvain Erickson and others.
The Lucas Oil tour will be out in force in Quebec…Autodrome’s Granby and Drummond, Le RPM Speedway. It will be excitement guaranteed!!
