ROSSBURG, OH (Sept. 24) — With the final 2010 Eldora Speedway appearance for the World of Outlaw (WoO) Sprints this Friday night comes one of the tightest points races in the storied history of the series.

When the WoO Sprints take to the one-half clay oval to kick off the two-day Four Crown Nationals, Jason Meyers will bring with him a slim 3 point lead in the cumulative points chase towards the coveted WoO Championship title. Sitting right behind him is Joey Saldana. Neither Meyers nor Saldana have worn the WoO crown in their storied careers. Lurking in third place, and still in the hunt, is 20-time WoO champion Steve Kinser, only 48 markers behind leader Meyers.

Of that trio, Meyers statistically will be the underdog.

Kinser holds the rights to the most prolific Eldora WoO runner, with his 34 feature wins, including his exciting run to the Kings Royal title on July 17. The last lap pass that powered him to a popular victory, ended an Eldora dry spell that dated back to 2007.

Similarly, it has been since 2007 that Meyers has tasted the fruits of victory at Eldora.

Meanwhile that same time span has spawned four feature triumphs for second generation driver Saldana, including two this season.

Considering those odds, and the fact that he has carried the WoO checkered flag 13 times this season, Saldana would appear to have the upper hand going into the Eldora chase.

Meanwhile, consistency has been the key to Meyers’ success. With ten WoO feature wins into the 2010 campaign, the California native has backed that up with 32 runs amongst the top five and a total of 49 within the top ten.

Kinser, who seemingly dominates Eldora Speedway, could be the spoiler and tighten up the points chase even more.

Behind that trio, four-time and defending champion Donny Schatz sits in fourth, while Jason Sides, who prevailed in the 2009 Four Crown appearance ranks fifth.

Joining the full program of WoO Sprint action Friday night will be the USAC (United States Auto Club) Midget and Silver Crown divisions who will time trial in preparation for their Saturday night leg of the Four Crown Nationals when they join the USAC Sprints to make for a tripleheader program.
