From Scott Daloisio
(SEPTEMBER 23, 2010, PERRIS, CA) Cory Kruseman, the 2003 and 2004 Budweiser Oval Nationals champion, is one of the latest entries for the 15th running of the prestigious race at Perris Auto Speedway on November 4th, 5th and 6th. Other recent entries include Blake Mille, Greg Bragg, David Cardey and Northern California veteran Jim Richardson.
Kruseman, a resident of Ventura, California, is one of the most decorated drivers currently competing in open wheel racing. In addition to his two triumphs at the Oval Nationals the 40-year old driver is a two-time winner of the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals (2000 & 2004), two time king of Indiana Sprint Week (2002 & 2005), the 1999 Non Wing World Champion, 2000 SCRA champ and 2006 USAC/CRA title holder. Kruseman currently sits fourth in the Amsoil USAC/CRA championship standings (one main event win) and he leads the USAC Western Midget standings (two main event wins). Among the many racing endeavors in his career, Kruseman has competed in the Indy Racing League and the NASCAR Truck Series.
Yorba Linda, California’s Miller is only 23 years old. Yet, he has a very impressive racing resume. When he was just 18 years old, he captured the championship in the Ventura Racing Association. One year later he was named USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year. Driving the Mark Priestly #7, Miller is third in the current USAC/CRA point standings and has crept to within 32 points of second place. Thus far in 2010 he has two USAC/CRA main event wins.
Bragg, a walnut farmer from Visalia, California, will be piloting Tom and Lauri Sertich’s famous “Moose Mobile” in the 2010 edition of the Oval Nationals. Bragg scored his first USAC/CRA Series win with a breathtaking third to first move on lap 28 of the April 10th main event at The PAS. Seventh in the standings as this piece went to press, he also has a pair of wins (Marysville & Chowchilla) with the BCRA Midgets in 2010. Bragg is a three-time California Lightning Sprint Car champion (2000, 2001 and 2002).
Cardey took over the California Lightning Sprint Car Championship from Bragg in 2003 when he won 13 main events and was undefeated at The PAS. One year later he jumped up to the USAC/CRA Series and he finished second in the Rookie of the Year standings. The 34-year old Riverside, California father of one has nine career USAC/CRA wins including four in a row at The PAS in 2010. He also has two wins at the Victorville Auto Raceway this year. The biggest win of Cardey’s career came when he captured the Oval Nationals Friday night preliminary on his 33rd birthday in 2008. In 2009, he finished second to Mike Spencer in the USAC/CRA title chase. Cardey has also competed in the NASCAR Grand National West and the Jim Russell Formula Series’.
Richardson, who resides in Graeagle, California, began his racing career 35 years ago in Grass Valley. Two years later he won eight main events and the Modified championship. In 1981 Richardson, who has competed at tracks all over the nation, was named NARC Rookie of the Year.
The Budweiser Oval Nationals is America’s premiere and toughest traditional Sprint Car race. All drivers have to race all three nights as they seek the prestigious title of Budweiser Oval Nationals champion and the $12,500.00 first place paycheck that goes with it. It is a full points paying event for both the Amsoil USAC/CRA and USAC National Sprint Cars. The final two days of the three-day racing fest will also include the California Lightning Sprint Cars.
