(OCTOBER 25, 2010, RIVERSIDE, CA) When “Dynamite” David Cardey appears on the tjslideways.com radio show on Tuesday, he will have a lot to gab about including the fast approaching Budweiser Oval Nationals and his winner take all victory in the $5,600.00 Legends of Ascot Match Race last Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway.
On Saturday, Cardey qualified 13th in the 27 car field and finished second in his 10-lap heat race earning his spot in the 30-lap A-main. However, the excitement came before intermission when Cardey squared off against four other drivers in the winner take all match race. Actually, it was series of four; four lap races with drivers earning points in each one. Unknown by all at the time, a Cardey pass in the first four lapper would prove to be the winning pass as he finished one point ahead of the competition when the four races were over to claim the wealthy racing prize. If he had not made that pass, he would have been tied for the lead and would have had to come back in two lap overtime race for the “big bucks.”
A while later, Cardey was on the track for the 30-lap A main event. Starting 13th (inside row seven) the veteran racer was coming forward in the field, but past the halfway point, his engine laid down and he was done for the night with a disappointing 17th place finish.

Last, but certainly not least, Cardey will celebrate his 35th birthday this Sunday, October 31st. A camping trip with family and friends will be the fare of the weekend as he relaxes before getting back into action next week in the Oval Nationals on November 4th, 5th and 6th.
