From Misha Geisert
INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 18, 2010) — On Tuesday, Nov. 30, International Motorsports Industry Show (IMIS) Show attendees, exhibitors and race fans will have an opportunity to help ‘Heal the Real Deal’ as the Shane Hmiel Racing to Recovery Fund will host a benefit auction and public fundraiser as part of the IMIS Show kick-off. The two-part benefit will begin with an auction during the IMIS Show kick-off reception at Lucas Oil Stadium. Auction items will be available for silent bidding from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. EST during the IMIS reception.
Proceeds from the IMIS kick-off reception silent auction will also benefit Eric Saunders, a Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) affiliated motocross rider who was paralyzed in a practice accident in late August. Saunders is the son of long-time Hoosier Tire representative, Irish Saunders. The Hmiel family hopes to continue the Racing to Recovery fund after Shane has recovered and Saunders will be one of the first riders/race drivers to benefit from this organization.
While the IMIS reception is closed to the public, race fans will have an opportunity to come out and help heal ‘The Real Deal,’ as Jillian’s of downtown Indianapolis will host a public (all ages welcome) benefit from 7 – 11 p.m. immediately following the IMIS reception. All race teams and fans are invited to join Jillian’s in helping to raise proceeds for the Shane Hmiel Racing to Recovery Fund. Jillian’s has generously pledged to donate 10% of all food and beverage sales from the designated benefit hours to the fund. Special appearances from race drivers in the USAC, World of Outlaws Sprint and Late Model Series and other divisions will be on-hand to sign autographs and mingle throughout the evening.
