Season Best Result for McFadden

A second place finish in the fourth round of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship over the weekend at Latrobe’s Bendigo Bank Arena was current Australian Champion James McFadden’s best performance of the season.

As a result of his second place finish behind winner, American import Jason Sides, McFadden has moved up to fifth in the current WSS Championship point standings ladder and also another step closer to opening his feature race victory account for the 2010/11 season.

“We missed the setup slightly in the feature race and that denied us a better opportunity to challenge for the victory, as you need to be on the money each and every time because in this level of competition you can’t afford anything less,” the AUS # 1 Totally Workwear supported Cool driver said. “Although it’s disappointing to miss out on the win, second place is still a great result and it helps us gain valuable points towards our World Series Championship campaign.”

McFadden started the feature race out of position two after he had finished second in the pole shootout. The night started out in the best possible way for McFadden after he topped the time sheets in qualifying time trials and then charged forward in his opening heat race from 10th on the grid to finish fourth. McFadden found the going a little tougher in the second heat and finished in eighth after he had started from position nine.

In his chase for more crucial laps, McFadden and his team will this Saturday night (December 18) venture to Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway in Victoria to contest the latest round of the Eureka Garages & Sheds Series.

“It’s all about gaining as many laps as you can in readiness for the busy period of the season,” explained the 21-year-old. “Warrnambool is one of my favourite tracks and any time I get the opportunity to race there I’m going to take it, especially with the major events such as the Grand Annual Classic and the Australian Title coming up next month.”

In the 2010/11 season McFadden would like to thank his car owner Scott Milling, his parents Dave (crew chief) and Tania, along with sponsors Totally Workwear, Western Diamond Drillers, KRE Race Engines, OMP, Racer Industries and Cool Chassis for all their wonderful support.
