Port Royal – With a diverse, exciting 2011 schedule nearly finalized, another new face has joined the effort to revamp Port Royal Speedway and its racing programs.

PRS Promotions announced the appointment of Tom Stimely Sr. of Burnham to the position of Chief Pit Steward for the 2011 racing season on Wednesday.

Stimely, a 62-year old lifelong Mifflin County resident, has played a hands-on role in auto racing in one way or another since 1968,when he started out driving in the burgeoning sprint car division. Along the way, he and his family built and operated Banana Speedway in Lewistown for more than a decade.

The 2011 schedule is highlighted by big events for both the 410 sprints and the super late models. Also appearing on a semi-regular basis during the year will be pro stocks, 305 sprints and enduros.

Numerous promotional nights are planned, including Kids Night on July 9.
