Bloomington, Ind. – After an 11-year absence, the stars of the World of Outlaws – including Bloomington, Ind.’s Steve Kinser – will once again race at the famed Bloomington Speedway with a special Friday night event on Aug. 5, 2011.
Kinser, the “King of the Outlaws,” and all the World of Outlaw drivers will be racing for Bloomington Speedway’s largest purse in years with the winner guaranteed to take home a $10,000 check!
Every adult ticket purchased in advance will include a free pit pass, allowing fans to see the ground-pounding winged sprint cars and drivers of the World of Outlaws up close. Other expected drivers include Kinser’s son Kraig, 2010 WOO Champion Jason Meyers, popular Indiana driver Joey Saldana, Craig Dollansky and Donny Schatz.
The World of Outlaws will be sharing the track with Bloomington Speedway’s ultra competitive O’Neal Wood Products UMP Modifieds. A big purse awaits the Modified racers as well with $800 going to the feature winner and $100 just to start the main event.
The elder Kinser has won six World of Outlaws races at Bloomington Speedway, which is his home track. The first of those wins came in the series’ inaugural 1978 campaign. His most recent win there came in 1998. Over his 30-plus-year career, the ‘King of the Outlaws’ has racked up 18 wins at the track.
Kraig won a former Great Lake Outlaw Sprint Series race in 2002 at Bloomington Speedway. Including Steve’s dad, Bob, three generation of Kinsers have won races at Bloomington. Kraig enters the 2011 season with nine career World of Outlaws main event wins.
Reigning World of Outlaws champion Jason Meyers has competed at Bloomington Speedway three times, scoring a best finish of sixth in 2006.
Tickets for the World of Outlaws return to Bloomington Speedway on Friday, August 5 are $35 in advance for adults and includes a free pit pass. Bloomington Speedway’s season opener is Friday, April 15 and will include the Grimes Pools and Spas Sprint Cars, the Tire and Wheel Center UMP Indiana Super Stocks, the O’Neal Wood Products UMP Modifieds and a new ‘Hornet’ stock car division. The full 2011 schedule will be released in the near future.
