Tough Start to Western WSS Swing for McFadden

By Daniel Powell

Despite the disappointing start to the Western Australian leg of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship, James McFadden is determined to finish off the remaining rounds on a solid note and claims that he has nothing to lose and all to gain.
McFadden’s tough weekend at Bunbury City Speedway, which saw him lose tyre due to a broken valve on the opening night during qualifying saw him fail to record a time and then things went from bad to worse when on the second and final night when he closing in on a B-main transfer spot into the feature race only to suffer engine failure aboard the WA # 25 Totally Workwear supported Cool, has consequently dropped him from sixth down to seventh in the overall WSS point standings.
“It certainly wasn’t our most memorable of weekends, but we’ve just got to move on and now even more determined to bounce back and finish the remaining rounds of World Series on a positive note,” the 21-year-old enthused. “There is this Wednesday night at Manjimup Speedway and then a double header at the Perth Motorplex next weekend, so we’re heading into those events with our eyes fixed on finishing somewhere on the podium.”
Last Wednesday night McFadden made the annual appearance at the home track of car owner Scott Milling, Kalgoorlie International Speedway and he managed to come away with a Top 10 finish.
“We certainly would’ve liked to have finished higher than 10th, but when you start deep in the field it makes it quite difficult to move forward, especially with the calibre of drivers that you’re up against,” he commented. “It’s the type of track where sometimes where you qualify determines how your night pans out and our performance last Wednesday night was a perfect example of that.”
McFadden and his team will this Wednesday night (February 16) make its debut appearance at Manjimup Speedway and then after that head to the Perth Motorplex for the WSS finale over two nights on Friday and Saturday (February 18 and 19).
In the 2010/11 season McFadden would like to thank his car owner Scott Milling, his parents Dave (crew chief) and Tania, along with his valuable sponsors Totally Workwear, Western Diamond Drillers, KRE Race Engines, OMP, Racer Industries and Cool Chassis for all their wonderful support.
