McFadden Deflated in WSS Finale

By Daniel Powell

The final round of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship certainly didn’t end the way that James McFadden had planned last Saturday night at the Perth Motorplex in Western Australia and it saw him robbed of a good finish due to a deflated tyre.
McFadden, aboard the Scott Milling owned WA # 25 Totally Workwear supported Cool, was running strongly in the feature race in sixth place up until he had made contact with the wall that consequently resulted in his right rear tyre going flat and a DNF.
“We were on track for our best finish ever at the Perth Motorplex, as we hadn’t really enjoyed much of a good run there in our previous visits,” the 21-year-old said. “In the feature race everyone was running up the top and when you run up there so close to wall the room for error is very minimal. I made a slight slip up and hit the wall. Although it wasn’t a huge hit it was big enough to damage the right rear and deflate the tyre.”
At the completion of the WSS Championship McFadden ended up eighth in the final point standings and it was as a result of a mixed run throughout the 16 rounds. The highlight result of the WSS Championship was a runner up finish behind American Jason Sides in round four at Latrobe’s Bendigo Bank Arena down in Tasmania.
In regards to the remainder of the season, McFadden, who is still recovering from a shoulder injury that was sustained earlier in the season, is unclear about his immediate plans.
“At this moment the car is in Kalgoorlie (Western Australia) with my car owner Scott Milling, but we’ll be making our decision very shortly if we do some shows in the coming weekends in South Australia and Victoria or head back over to the Krikke Boys Shootout,” commented McFadden. “After that we’re looking to be based up in Queensland where we’ll contest the Queensland Title, the Easter Trail and a few of their local shows.”
In the 2010/11 season McFadden would like to thank his car owner Scott Milling, his parents Dave (crew chief) and Tania, along with his valued sponsors Totally Workwear, Western Diamond Drillers, KRE Race Engines, OMP, Racer Industries and Cool Chassis for all their wonderful support.
