CONCORD, N.C. – March 12, 2011 – The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series road to the World Finals has added an event on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at exciting half-mile Hartford Motor Speedway in southwest Michigan.
“We’re really looking forward to the World of Outlaws coming back to one of the best tracks in the state of Michigan,” said Hartford Motor Speedway owner Jim Borden. “We’ve really been working hard to bring the Outlaws back up here and I know the fans are very excited about the show they will put on.”
The pit gates will open at 2 p.m. with grandstands opening at 4 p.m. Hot laps will be at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m.
The series last visited the action-packed half-mile on July 27, 2005. Jac Haudenschild was the quickest driver in qualifying that night, but Steve Kinser was dominating the Outlaws in 2005 and on that Wednesday night blistered the field for his 15th victory of a season that would see him win his 20th World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series crown.
Jason Johnson owns the track record for winged Sprint Cars at Hartford after turning a lap in 15.739 seconds at 128.775 mph on Sept. 3, 2001. In addition to Kinser’s victory on July 27, 2005, Jason Meyers won on July 14, 2004; Brian Paulus won on Aug. 6, 2003; Dave Blaney won on May 19, 1996; and Sammy Swindell won on Oct. 12, 1996.
