Laguna Beach, California (March 14, 2011) — Midget veteran and Colorado native Levi Roberts has been signed by the Nine Racing, Inc. midget team to run five USAC National Midget Series pavement events in 2011.
Levi is committed to enter The Night Before 500 event on May 28 at Lucas Oil Raceway Park, in Clermont, Indiana, and again at the track on July 28; June 17 and 18’s Milwaukee Mile event in West Allis, Wisconsin; Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa, on June 24, and the annual Turkey Night Grand Prix at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, on November 24.
Levi will join Kyle Hamilton for a two-car Nine Racing, Inc. USAC National Midget Series pavement program for this season.
“I’ve watched Levi since his early Ford Focus days and have followed his career, so we are very excited to have him join our Nine Racing National Midget pavement program for this season,” explained Steve Lewis, Nine Racing, Inc. team owner. “Levi has done well the last two years on the National Midget circuit and he has done well at ORP, now Lucas Oil Raceway Park, and we look forward to having him be a part of our Nine Racing team.”
“I have watched the #9 cars since I was in go karts and I am very much looking forward to working with the Nine Racing crew of Dave Steele and Glenn Martin this season,” added Levi. “The team has experienced great success through the years on the big pavement tracks and I am excited about the opportunity to race this season at these big events on the USAC National schedule.”
About Levi Roberts:
Levi Roberts began his racing career at the age of seven. In 2003 Levi won the karting U.S. Nationals in Norman, Oklahoma. The following year Levi moved to the national kart scene, and in his first year claimed a top finish in both SKUSA and Snap-On Stars of Karting, finishing the year as number 12 in the nation. In 2005 Levi claimed several wins and 7 podium finishes en route to being Snap-On Stars of Karting’s Western Champion and earning the distinction of number 2 in the nation.
Levi moved into the USAC Ford Focus Midget series and earned an impressive 3rd place finish at the 67th annual Turkey Night Grand Prix. Levi enjoyed a very successful 2009 season, winning the Illinois State Championship at Grundy County Speedway, and capturing several quick times. He finished his year off with an impressive 2nd place finish at the 69th annual Turkey Night Grand Prix. In 2010 Levi competed in all USAC National Midget Series pavement races as well as select USAC Regional events. By season’s end Levi collected two regional wins, three fast times, and one track record in regional competition. He also posted 5 top-10s with a season high 3rd place finish at ORP, plus he earned 4th place in the USAC National Midget Series pavement points.
Levi currently attends Colorado State University where he is majoring in mechanical engineering.
