Following a weekend in Pennsylvania, the Big Game Treestands #7 team returned to ‘The Buckeye State’ on Friday as racing resumed at Attica Raceway Park, a 1/3-mile oval that Dollansky has recorded top-ten finishes in all four World of Outlaws starts including a podium finish in 2005.
A beautiful day in Attica, Ohio would see the local competition came out in full-force as 57 sprinters signed into the pit area to do battle in the Kistler Engines Classic. In qualifying time trials, Dollansky rocketed the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim to the 12th fastest time overall at 12.707 seconds. Starting from outside row one in the second heat, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ started alongside Kerry Madsen and burst out to the lead on the start and never looked back, leading all 10 laps to earn a spot in the dash. In the 8-lap dash to set the grid for the main event, Dollansky gained one position and finished 4th.
Lining up fourth for the 40-lap A-Main, Dollansky battled Lucas Wolfe in the early stages of the race and ran fifth by lap 10. By the fifteenth circuit, the Karavan Trailers #7 closed in on Phil Gressman and Steve Kinser. Dollansky would take fourth from Gressman one lap later and hound Kinser for 3rd which he would take on lap 20. The first caution of the race didn’t come until lap 23, at which point ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ had worked past Lucas Wolfe and lined up second for the double-file restart. As racing resumed, Dollansky started to reel in leader Donny Schatz with 10 laps to go but a red flag just one lap later would hault momentum. With three more cautions in the final nine laps, Dollansky gave it one last try on the final restart with three to go as he put a slidejob on the #15 in turn 3 and took the lead but Schatz turned it back under the #7 and Dollansky when on to finish in the runner-up position.
“Donny got a little loose in turns 1 & 2 and gave us a good run on him going down the backstretch, we gave it a good shot and came up a little short,” commented the native of Elk River, Minnesota. “He had a good car we saw that in the dash. We made some changes to this Big Game Treestands car prior to the feature and it seemed like we were moving in the right direction, I hated to see that red because we were better on the long run. Donny drove a great race, his entire team did a good job, but to come home second with Big Game Treestands, Aggressive Hydraulics, Karavan Trailers, Aeroquip, and everyone on this crew, it’s not a bad run.
We have a great race team led by DJ Lindsey, my brother Troy, and my son Luke. We’re having fun racing together and I enjoy being with these guys. I couldn’t be happier for our entire race team and Brian Morrison, Maxim Chassis, Integra Shocks, and everything we have going on with this team. It was a great turnout by the fans and we’re looking forward to the race schedule getting busier and carrying this momentum.”
Racing continues tonight for the Big Game Treestands #7 team at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan.
