(Riverside, CA, June 14, 2011) David Cardey notched his first win of 2011 when he walked away from the field to win the 30-lap main event at the Summer Sprint Spectacular last Saturday night at Victorville Raceway Park.

Cardey, who lives in Riverside, California, was making his first Victorville appearance since finishing second there in the USAC/CRA race on March 16th. The 35-year-old racing star was fast out of the box on Saturday and won his heat race to start off the evening.
For he main event, the racing dad was starting in the third position (inside row two). By the time the field roared into turn three the first time, he had already taken the lead and from that point on, he checked out from the field. The only thing that stood in his way was the yellow and red flags for incidents on the track. Each time they waved, the field would close to Cardey’s tail tank, but every time the green would come back out, he would race away from the field once again.
When the checkered flag ended the race, Cardey was nearly a full straightaway in front of his closest pursuer. That was a good thing according to the veteran racer. “We got a little lucky,” he said. “The fuel pump came off right as we took the checkered flag.”
This weekend, Cardey still hopes to be in action at the USAC/CRA – USAC Western Classic Series combined races at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville on Friday and Santa Maria Speedway on Saturday.
