Chris Windom of Canton, Ill. has the lead in the 2011 “Indiana Sprint Week” standings after three of the seven scheduled races and is 20 points ahead of Bryan Clauson entering this Wednesday night’s “Tony Hulman/Don Smith Classic” at the Terre Haute Action Track. The series continues Thursday night at Brownstown Speedway, followed by Friday’s race at Bloomington Speedway and Saturday’s finale at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt.

Robert Ballou of Rocklin, Calif. led all 30 laps of Sunday night’s AMSOIL USAC National Indiana Sprint Week feature at the Lawrenceburg Speedway in his Behaviour Consultants/J.C. Plew Triple X/Ott. Windom finished second ahead of Jerry Coons Jr., Justin Grant and Bobby East. Hunter Schuerenberg was the fastest qualifier.

Schuerenberg, of Sikeston, Mo., won Saturday night’s spectacular 30-lapper at the Kokomo Speedway, passing Windom five laps from the finish in his Fatheadz Eyewear/R & B Truckers Spike/Foxco. Windom trailed early leaders Casey Riggs and Chad Boespflug for the first seven laps, then took the lead on lap eight. Boespflug regained it on nine but Windom was back in front on 10. Windom then led for 15 laps until Schuerenberg’s race-winning pass. Schuerenberg was also the fastest qualfiier. Windom took second at the checkered flag, followed by Clauson, Grant and Mike Spencer.

Dave Darland of Lincoln, Ind. led all 30 laps of Friday night’s 2011 “Indiana Sprint Week” opener at the Gas City I-69 Speedway in his Leer Racing DRC/Speedway special. Windom finished second ahead of Ballou, Clauson and Shane Cottle.

Darland’s win was the 76th USAC National victory of his career, tying him with Jack Hewitt for seventh on the all-time list. The win was also his 15th in Indiana Sprint Week history, an all-time record. Jerry Coons Jr. was the fastest of 48 qualifiers
