SYRACUSE, NY – The Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) are ready to do battle once again showcasing an exciting two-race weekend with visits to the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park on Friday and back to the Fulton Speedway on Saturday. As the summer heats up so does the battle for the overall ESS championship and fans will be in for a treat.
After last years very successful debut at the “little quarter-mile up on the hill”, the winged machines are set to play host to an absolute packed house. Lance Yonge bested a stellar field one year ago and he will look to make it two wins in a row for 2011 as well after winning last Sunday at Cayuga County.
Point leader Chuck Hebing, Shawn Donath, Steve Poirer, Kevin Ward Jr. and Cory Sparks make up the top five in points and they will be looking to chase Yonge to the checkered flag.
Other teams that will be pit side at Glen Ridge as well as Fulton will include Alain Bergeron, Jeff Cook, Michael Parent, Matt Tanner, Dylan Swiernik, Mike Stelter, Tommy Wickham, Tyler Rand, Jason Barney, Jami Russell, Russ Bennett, Kory Gurney, Jared Fink and more.
After the Friday night stop in Fultonville, NY, its to Fulton, NY to the high banks of the Fulton Speedway. The event is the make-up date from June 11 where mother nature interfered with ESS’ first event since 2006. The Central, NY facility is rich in ESS history holding 62 events sicne the inauguarl season back in 1983.
To make the weekend even more special, the hometown fans at each track will one of their own to root for. At Glen Ridge, many-time big block modified feature winner Bobby Varin will again be in the Pete Demitraszek #00 looking to improve on his fourth place finish in last years event.
On Saturday night, making his sprint car debut will be teenage sensation Larry Wight aboard the second Doug Emery Motorsports entry. The driver of the Gypsum Express modified currently sits fifth in Fulton Speedway modified points and is one of the rising stars in the big block ranks.
