Mike Spencer of Temecula, Calif. continues to pursue what would be a fourth consecutive AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Car championship and will carry a 23-point lead over Nic Faas into an August 13 race at Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway.
Spencer won Saturday night’s 30-lap feature at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. Spencer passed Greg Bragg on lap four and led to the checkered flag to beat Faas, Danny Sheridan, Austin Williams and fast qualifier Ronnie Gardner. The win was Spencer’s fifth in the series this season (four at Perris) in his Madera Produce/Grubstake Mini Storage Maxim/Shaver.
Matt Mitchell, who finished 11th at Perris, remains in the title hunt as well, 36 back of Spencer.
