Mike Spencer continues his drive for an unprecedented fourth consecutive AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint car title September 3 and 4 when the series returns to the NAPA County Fairgrounds in Calistoga, Calif. for the annual โLouie Vermeil Classic.โ
Spencer is 34 points ahead of runner-up Nic Faas and 55 ahead of third-place Matt Mitchell in the latest standings after finishing fourth in last Saturday nightโs race at the Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.
Matt Mitchell of Yorba Linda, Calif. earned his second AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint car victory of the 2011 season Saturday night at Perris, leading the final 23 laps in his J.W. Mitchell Motorsports/Mancha Realtors Maxim. Fast qualifier Faas finished second ahead of David Cardey, who led the first seven laps, series point leader Spencer and R.J Johnson.
