Defending Traxxas USAC Silver Crown Champion Levi Jones will take a six-point lead over Jerry Coons Jr. into the September 24 “4-Crown Nationals” at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, the penultimate event in this year’s series. Jones finished second in Sunday night’s “Ted Horn 100” at DuQuoin, Ill, while Coons finished fifth. Jones finished third and Coons 14th in last year’s “4-Crown” feature.
Kyle Larson of Elk Grove, Calif. earned his first TRAXXAS USAC Silver Crown victory Sunday night at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds, winning the “Ted Horn 100.” He started fourth and passed Bryan Clauson on the 23rd lap, then led the rest of the way in his IWX Motor Freight/Hoosier Tire Eagle/Speedway Chevy.
Tracy Hines was third behind Jones, with Brian Tyler fourth. Clauson won the pole and led the first 22 laps but finished ninth.
Larson’s victory came in his first appearance at the “Magic Mile” and left him holding down the number five position in the latest series standings.
