September 14, 2011 (Sarver, PA) “The Greatest Show on Dirt” is set to return to the Action Track on Saturday, September 24 for the $10,000-to-win Commonwealth Clash featuring the World of Outlaws Sprints. And while the “usual suspects” sit atop the Outlaws Point Standings, a recent rash of new and unexpected winners have swept through the tour lately with Mark Dobmeier winning Thursday Night’s A-Main qualifying event at the Knoxville Nationals, Cody Darrah winning his first Outlaws A-Main as a tour regular in the Kasey Kahne Racing #91, Sam Hafertepe Jr. winning at Skagit Speedway, Kraig Kinser at Cottage Grove Speedway and most recently 19 year old Kyle Larson stealing the “Gold Cup” at Silver Dollar Speedway last Saturday Night.
Please do not mistake this as an indictment of the World of Outlaws drivers or their equipment, rather it is absolutely a reflection of the caliber of 410 sprint car talent all over the country; including Western PA! All Stars Tim Shaffer and Dale Blaney swept the Silver Cup Twin 30s at Lernerville in July, and then Shaffer backed up his Silver Cup win with an All Star win earlier this month at the Action Track.
The 2011 World of Outlaws Championship is shaping up to be another fierce battle to the final checkered flag at the World Finals at the Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway! Defending Series Champion Jason Meyers left Antioch Speedway with a 75-point lead over Kinser, while former four-time champion Donny Schatz rides third; just 132 points behind Meyers.
Steve Kinser picked up his eighth win of the season Monday Night at Antioch Speedway in California. Despite being a road warrior with the World of Outlaws for over 30 years, Monday’s World of Outlaws sanctioned event was Kinser’s first ever visit to Antioch!
Speaking of Steve Kinser, despite competing at the Action Track just two or three times each year, “The King” sits 12th on the All Time Wins list for Ti22 Sprints with 17, tied with longtime rival Sammy Swindell!
Before the green flag flies on Saturday, September 24 for the Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville Speedway, the fine folks from Kasey Kane Racing and Great Clips Racing will have Cody Darrah’s #91 World of Outlaws showcar and the #38 Kasey Kahne/Jason Leffler NASCAR Nationwide Series showcar on display for the fans.
Tickets for the $10,000-to-win Commonwealth Clash are on sale now by clicking the “Buy Tickets!” icon at www.Lernerville.com or by calling the speedway office at (724) 353-1511 during normal business hours.
