FREMONT, Ohio — Oct. 15, 2011 — Jason Meyers had an opportunity and took it. The move paid dividends for Meyers as he claimed his fifth consecutive World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series win. The victory was the 55th of the 2010 Champion’s career and marked the Outlaws return to the 1/3 rd mile track for the first time since 1993.
“Donny (Schatz) and I got to racing really good there for a few laps,” said Meyers. “I got a pretty good run off of turn two, I saw the opportunity and took it. It paid off for us again tonight. I’m really running out of things to say. This DDNi/All-Star Performance/GLR Investments/Media-Tile car was awesome again tonight and I didn’t have to wear it out to keep up with Donny. This streak has been amazing and to win 55 World of Outlaws main events is just very special. My crew chief, Brian, and his wife had a baby girl right before Knoxville this summer and she’s been out the past five races. She and her mom weren’t scheduled to go to Talladega but I think they’re going to have to go now.”

Schatz started the evening on the pole position with Greg Wilson on the outside of the front row. Schatz led the first six circuits until Meyers began to close in lap traffic. The two former champions battled back and forth for the next eight laps until Meyers took the lead for good. Australian native Kerry Madsen charged his way to second after Tim Shaffer spun trying to pass Meyers.
“To finish second here at Fremont is huge for our team,” said a smiling Madsen. ”The competition level here is like when we go to Williams Grove. Our car ran great tonight. We qualified good, made it into the dash. Truthfully, with the way we have been running lately, we really wish the season was just beginning instead of ending.”
In the closing laps, local youngster Bryan Sebbetto proved he had the talent to run with the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’ as he passed and held off Schatz to finish for the third position. Sebbetto won the night’s Last Chance Showdown to make the field of 24 starters and patiently made his way through the field.
“This is unbelievable,” said Sebbetto, as he enjoyed a thunderous ovation from the crowd. ”I grew up watching these guys and now I’m getting the opportunity to run against them. Not only did we make it in, we raced with them very well. I screwed up a little bit in the heat race and that cost a chance to get into the dash. I don’t know if we could have had anything for Jason but this feels good.”
Schatz settled for the fourth position in his with Craig Dollansky rounding out the top-5.
The Outlaws now swing south for the Sage Fruit Showdown at Talladega Short Track near Talladega, Ala. on Saturday, October 22.
