Following a runner-up performance last weekend in upper New York, Craig Dollansky and the Big Game Treestands #7 team traveled to Ohio on Saturday where the World of Outlaws season continued at Fremont Speedway, a track the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’ hasn’t competed at since way back in 1993.
A strong field of 37 sprinters signed into the 1/3-mile pit area with ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ piloting the Karavan Trailers Maxim to the 11th fastest time in qualifying at 13.169 seconds. Making the sixteen car inversion for the heats meant Dollansky would start second in the third heat, a 10-lap affair where the Elk River, Minnesota native finished 2nd to earn a spot in the dash. In the 8-lap dash event Dollansky lined up inside row four and bettered his starting position for the main event by finishing 5th.
When the green flag dropped on the 40-lap A-Main Dollansky raced with Kerry Madsen as they motored down the backstretch but couldn’t quite take fourth. After losing a spot to Tim Shaffer, Dollansky held sixth until just after the halfway point on lap 23 when Greg Wilson got together with the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products Maxim as both cars spun but ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ kept the engine fired on the #7 to keep his spot. On the ensuing restart Dollansky lost a position to Bryan Sebbetto and ran fifth before another stoppage came with 6 laps to go. Roles reversed when racing resumed as Dollansky battled past Sebbetto but a caution before the lap was complete negated the strong restart. The Aggressive Hydraulics backed sprinter would maintain position in the remaining laps to record another top-five finish crossing the checkered flag in 5th.
“We got ourselves in a position to transfer through the heat race in the top two and get us into the dash,” commented Craig. “We were able to gain a row in the dash but in the feature we weren’t as good as we would have liked to be but hung in there and got a top five out of it but we weren’t operated as good as we would have liked.”
The Big Game Treestands #7 team now heads south to Alabama where action continues this coming Saturday at Talladega Short Track.
