An opening lap pileup, where he was an innocent victim, destroyed Danny Reidy’s chances of claiming last Saturday night’s $3,000 to win Dash for Cash event at Maryborough Speedway.
This pileup occurred at the begging of the feature race, when the two front row starters clashed, caused a ‘concertina’ effect for the majority of the field. Reidy, who had started from the outside of the fourth row, suffered a damaged front end, front wing, and a flat left rear tyre.
“There was not a lot that anyone could really do, as there was just nowhere for anyone to go and it just turned into a big mess of wrecked cars,” Reidy explained in regards to the opening lap feature race pileup. “My team did their best to repair the car during the stoppage, but we ran out of time. After we had replaced the front end and removed the damaged front wing, we weren’t able to remove the left rear tyre in time as it was damaged to the point where we couldn’t remove it.”
Earlier in the night, the NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort supported Maxim driver struggled in qualifying time trials with the 16th fastest lap, but he managed to build up his points tally with a victory and a second place in his two heat races.
In what will be his final hit out before the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship begins, Reidy will contest the latest round of the KRE Series at Archerfield Speedway this Saturday night (November 19).
Reidy would like to thank, Desert Palms Resort – Alice Springs, Titan Plant Hire, Camden Neon Signs, P&M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines, for all of their 2011/12 season support.
