ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (November 30, 2011) – Ted Christopher, the 2009
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion, who swept to victory in the
2011 Gamblers Classic Indoor auto race at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic
City, N.J. is aiming for repeat success with an updated car.
The 10th edition of the event under the direction of Len Sammons and
staff is planned for Friday and Saturday nights Feb. 3-4, 2012. TQ
(three quarter) Midgets, dirt 600cc Micro-Sprints, Slingshots and
Champ Karts will be in competition.
Christopher, Plainville, Ct., who was blindingly fast last year, has
worked diligently on the car making subtle adjustments.
“I made some changes to the motor and some chassis changes. Every
year I try to do things to make the car better. I lightened up some
things but not at the expense of durability,” Christopher said.
Christopher is among over 72 drivers expected to compete in the TQ
midget class, the fastest of the four divisions racing at Boardwalk
Hall.
Christopher’s entry brings to Boardwalk Hall one of the most
accomplished drivers in the sport today. In addition to his NASCAR
Modified championship, “TC” is a NASCAR Weekly Racing Series
champion, has earned multiple track championships Thompson, Stafford
and Waterford, and has competed in NASCAR Sprint Cup events.
His versatility – he has raced in NASCAR’S Sprint Cup &?Nationwide
Series, the ISMA?Supermodified Series, and in the 24-hours of Daytona
sports car event – is what enabled Chistopher to adapt quickly to
Indoor TQ?Midget racing, something he had not done in his career
until five years ago.
“If I can get a good car and work on it, I can win with it,”
Christohper has said.
