From IMIS
What a Ride!
IMIS 2011 is officially in the record books. And what a show it was! With expanded floor space, more events and record attendance, the third annual show exceeded even our expectations. Friday seemed to be the fan favorite, with the most people and activity on the floor. However, all three days of IMIS were well attended and business was booming. With a turnout like this, it’s clear – the International Motorsports Industry Show is where business happens!
A Big Opening For IMIS
Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels and NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart were just a few of the many attendees at the IMIS Industry Reception. Held at Lucas Oil Stadium, the reception gave a celebratory open to the show. During the reception, Sam Schmidt, of Sam Schmidt Motorsports, was presented with the 2011 IMIS Achievement Award. We congratulate Sam on this award and his many years of racing success.

Inside The Industry With Chris
It’s official. I’m moving us out of the Rookie phase in terms of producing a first class Hardcore Trade Show. IMIS 2011 was fantastic and could be considered a “Breakout” show. The aisles were packed as we enjoyed a strong 35% increase in attendees. More importantly, these were real people on the floor, not just the number created by registration on the website. I speak for my partners and staff when I say how happy we are with our progress in just 3 short years. This success is because of you; members of the hardcore racing industry. Read more
Racing Safety A Hot Topic At IMIS
The IMIS Safety & Technical Conference presented by Safety-Kleen was a big success this year. The two-day event featured a long list of speakers covering a wide range of topics, including crash test reviews, data acquisition, dynamic passing maneuvers, fire suppression and much more. There was also a lively panel discussion and questions from the audience. It proved to be an important event that made quite an impression on attendees.
Tony Stewart Wins Inaugural Indy Karting Classic
It seems no matter what Tony Stewart drives, he wins. Sprint Cup champion and IMIS partner Stewart took another checkered flag at the inaugural Indy Karting Classic at Conseco Fieldhouse. The friendly match between the stars of NASCAR and INDYCAR was a fitting ending for IMIS 2011. You can see more details of the event, which featured 10 drivers in a 30-lap event, here. We are looking forward to Tony and the other drivers returning, making the Indy Karting Classic an annual event.
Now That’s a Haul!
Christmas came a bit early for one lucky IMIS attendee. Jack Kassin of Kassin Motorsports was the big winner of our Hardcore Hauler Sweepstakes. Jack won a fully-loaded 26-foot essential hauler. He says he was planning on buying a trailer, but was more than happy to haul this one away for free instead.
Revving Up a Win
Sunnen Rev It Up Raffle tickets were a hot seller leading up to and throughout the IMIS show as everyone was vying for a chance to win a Jasper Performance Products Class Chevrolet 350 engine. On Saturday, Leo Zynda’s ticket was drawn as the big winner. Of course, there really weren’t any losers in this raffle because all proceeds went to support the Tony Stewart Foundation and the Indiana Special Olympics.
See You Next Year!
There’s no doubt about it…IMIS 2011 was a hit! We’ve gotten lots of great feedback from both exhibitors and attendees, and plans are already underway to make sure next year’s show is even better. Exhibitor registrations are flying in and attendees already want us to open registration! Mark December 6 – 8 on your calendar and make sure to join us for IMIS 2012!
