Brownsburg, Indiana (March 20, 2012) — High school senior Dillon Welch prepares to close a chapter in his life by graduating this spring from Carmel High School, but he will soon begin a new chapter in his life—a life immersed in racing—as he gets ready for the first race of the 2012 USAC Mopar National Midget Pavement Series when the series kicks off at Ace Speedway, in Altamahaw, North Carolina, for a two-day event, March 30–31.
Dillon will be at the helm of the Nine Racing #9 midget for this opening USAC pavement event. Dillon ended the 2011 season with an excellent showing at the annual Turkey Night Grand Prix at Irwindale Speedway with a strong 8th place finish.
“We had a really good run Turkey Night coming from the 21st starting position,” described Dillon Welch. “I had a great time passing cars and I learned a lot that night. I am looking forward to getting back to racing in a couple of weeks at Ace Speedway.”
Dillon is already a seasoned racer having won many races and championships in 1/4 midgets and Kenyon Cars. The last two years he has concentrated on competing in the USAC Regional and National Midget Pavement events.
“Our team has watched Dillon from the very beginning of his career and we are impressed at how serious he is about his racing,” said Steve Lewis, Nine Racing team owner. “We enjoy working with him and it is rewarding to see how he is adapting to the very competitive nature of USAC National Midget Pavement racing. We are pleased to have Dillon Welch as a part of our 2012 Nine Racing program.”
Dillon Welch is sponsored by St. Vincent Sports Performance, Z-Line Designs, The Studio, BioStorage Technologies, CASE Remodeling, Validated Custom Solutions, Sullivan Hardware, Brownsburg Muffler, Average Joe’s, Row Printing and Windsor Jewelers.
